21 year-old Austrian Michael Gogl has found himself catapulted from UCI Continental Tirol Cycling Team into the heart of Tinkoff-Saxo in what was one of the main sponsor’s key races on the calendar, the Post Danmark Rundt. As a Stagiaire, Michael spent the week racing alongside Tinkoff-Saxo’s Danish Classics Big Guns against the full force of the Pro Peloton. They took 3 stages, the Team Classification and the Overall!! Not bad for a first taste of life at the top tier of professional cycling. Ciclissimo! had the pleasure of bringing you the daily lowdown from the young racer from Wolfsegg, his final report from Denmark is below. Follow Michael at his Facebook page (especially for the tale of when 8 Tinkoffs got in the same break!) #tuttogazz

“We finished it off! After an incredible TT from Chris he took the yellow jersey by 45 seconds – a comfortable advantage for us to defend. The final stage ended with 10 laps in Copenhagen where we had to look out for Chris and keep him out of trouble, also to make the leadout for our two sprinters Michael Morkov and Matti Breschel. All in all, it went perfectly; Chris came safely to the finish and the other two guys finished it off in an incredible way and came in first and second- Amazing! My job on the stage was to ride on the wheel of Chris so that he didn’t have to fight with other riders for position and in case of a mechanical problem, give him my bike because the bike setup was almost the same. I learned a lot out there on the roads with this incredible team and I am so happy that everybody welcomed me so very warmly. Next race for me is the Arctic Race of Norway. Stay tuned!
